We are looking forward to sharing our lives with your child. We our anxious to help a child navigate the world…to see joy on his or her face as he accomplishes a goal or sees fireworks for the first time, to wipe the tears and comfort him when he experiences inevitable pain from a scraped knee or his first broken heart, to hold him close after a nightmare, and to rejoice with him when he wins his first well-earned trophy. We most look forward to those quiet moments when we are together as a family and the world feels safe and wonderful and right because we are together. Your child can help make this dream come true for us.

Our Leisure Time

Though we love our jobs and spend part of our leisure time pursuing knowledge and skills that will help us advance professionally, we also love our "us" time and our "family" time. When we want to spend time together, we enjoy taking long rides in the Camaro with the T-tops off or strolling along the riverfront to watch the sunset. We also enjoy roller skating, though we're not as daring as when we were kids. Of course, we are both happy when a warm summer weekend provides the opportunity to go to the lake for boat riding, skiing, and other water sports-we even spent our honeymoon on the lake.

Though we cherish our moments together, we also realize the importance of our own space and activities, perhaps one of the greatest assets of our relationship. Carolyn loves the outdoors and relishes her time backpacking, hiking, kayaking and camping in addition to her daily walks. When she is indoors or in the mood for more stationary activities, she enjoys reading, assembling jigsaw puzzles, and playing UNO or Rummy when she can find a willing opponent.

Wayne spends much of his solitary time playing video and computer games or learning to play the guitar-his newest hobby. He also enjoys working on his Camaro and adding to his G.I. Joe collection. When Wayne is feeling athletic, he hits the gym or dons his scuba gear for underwater adventures.

Outstanding Public Education and Activities

As a public school teacher, Carolyn knows the value of a good, high-performing school. The school she chose to teach at falls into that category. The school provides a sound college-prep curriculum as well as great career-based and arts classes and a variety of athletic options to provide for all aspects of a child's school-based education.

Though we live outside the district, since Carolyn teaches there, the child will be able to attend in that district (just 15 minutes away). Of course, no school can be everything to every child and learning happens best when a child is having fun, so museums and zoos and life experience are often the best teachers and that is where camps, summer programs, and after school activities can help round out a child's education.

But good education starts with great fundamentals at excellent pre-schools. The pre-school the child will go to during the school year is only a couple of blocks from Carolyn's classroom, so she can run over there quickly if an emergency occurs or she just wants to join the child for lunch. Many of her co-workers have children there and the faculty is top-notch from the infant room all the way up.

Our Dog, A Child's Best Friend

We Can’t Wait to Make Your Child Part of Our Family Christmas Photo!

Shaker is our miniature schnauzer. He wakes us up every weekend by bringing a toy to the bed or standing next to our heads ready to play. It's such a great way to wake up and start a day filled with play. Shaker loves kids. Lucky for him, the kids in the neighborhood get off the bus beside our house, and they stop and play with him every day. When we go for a walk, the kids will come over and say hello to him. When our niece and nephews come, he is overwhelmed with excitement and protectiveness. He stays close to them day and night. He is probably as anxious as we are to have our home enlivened with a child's laughter. He will be your child's best friend.
