Our Extended Families

Alice’s Family

We are lucky to come from close knit families, each of us having one brother and one sister. Because we have been overseas for many years, we have always made deliberate efforts to keep in regular touch with our relatives and spend quality time with them whenever we can. Fortunately, both sets of parents love to travel and have enjoyed visiting us in different countries across the world as often as we have visited them in England and the US.

Richard’s Family

Alice’s immediate family all live in Texas. Her mother is from Korea and met her dad when he was stationed over there with the Air Force. After retiring from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant in the medical field, Alice's dad jumped straight into running laboratories for medical research companies. Alice's mom just retired as a civilian employee from the biggest Air Force hospital in the country. Alice's brother and his wife have an adorable six-year old son. They live just 90 minutes from Alice's parents. Alice's sister and her husband live in the Texas panhandle and have two canine "children".

Richard’s family all continue to live near Manchester, a large industrial city in the north of England, most famous for its soccer team (Manchester United, the Red Devils). Both parents are thoroughly enjoying their well-deserved retirement - Richard's mom from teaching kindergarten and his dad from computer technical services. Richard's sister has three bright, pre-teen children who love to hang out with their "James Bond" uncle. The two boys spent the last summer with us in Montana and reveled in every minute of playing cowboys and mountain men. Richard's brother lives near their parents with his two doggy "children." All of our relatives are incredibly supportive of our plans to adopt, excited at the prospect of a new baby being at the center of our international family.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

Our house in Canada is in an exclusive greenbelt and family oriented neighborhood in the pretty hills to the east of the city. It is only a few minutes from the best kindergarten and school in the district and is close to several play areas and parks, including one large forest where we walk our dogs daily. Richard has been busy renovating the house room by room. Alice now has her dream kitchen and will soon have real hardwood floors throughout the rest of the house on which to display her large collection of handmade carpets from our travels in the Indian Sub-Continent. Richard is itching to get his paintbrush out and re-decorate one of the spare bedrooms as a nursery and the other as a playroom. We are busy forging new friendships throughout the area and with Alice's co-workers. We have already gotten to know some great people, many of whom have young children who cannot wait to have a new playmate.

Our Home in Montana

In Montana our property is in a more rural location, high in the Rocky Mountains and 30 minutes outside of the nearest town. For us this is our sanctuary, a place to escape and enjoy the beauty of God's creation and the abundance of Mother Nature. Our nearest neighbors in Montana, and very dear friends, are about a mile away. Otherwise, we share the place with the elk, mule deer, eagles, and the occasional bear. Spending time in the great outdoors during all the different seasons is very important to us - a way to recharge the batteries and the soul. Any child entrusted to us would have these wonderful opportunities to experience and would benefit from the best of both worlds.
